Do Men Also Have A Swab Test For Yeast On Genitals?
However the itching is back now, in May. It seems it subsided but never completely went away.
Since Doxicycline 100mg 7 days this is typically given for Chalmydia, I got a NAAT test done at SRL with a urine sample, it was negative. What other list of tests can I do to find if I am the source of any infection ? I've tried to eliminate other diseases that could cause itching. Herpes 1 and 2 for example is also negative. Do men also have a swab test for yeast on genitals ?
Should I take DoxT too ?
Regarding vulvo vaginal itching
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you.
I am Dr kakkar (Dermatologist and Venereologist). I have noted your concern.
She seems to have recurrent vulvo vaginal candidiasis. Candidiasis is a common cause of vaginal itching and thick, curdy vaginal discharge. Chlamydia on the other hand is mostly asymptomatic in females or it may cause foul, yellowish, increased vaginal discharge. Recurrent vulvo vaginal candidiasis could be due to raised blood and urine glucose levels. I suggest her to take a test for fasting blood glucose levels as well as for HB1Ac. If case of recurrent vulvo vaginal candidiasis, it is advisable to avoid sexual contact for a week or till the infection resolves but it is not mandatory to treat asymptomatic sexual partners. Diagnosis of yeast infection is usually by clinical examination in both males and females. For the current episode I suggest her to take oral fluconazole 150mg on days 1, 4 and 7. In addition she may use clotrimazole vaginal pessary, nightly for 6 days. I would also suggest a tablet of fluconazole 150mg, once a month for 3 months.
