Question: Do our minds generally know the difference between feeling a pinch or feeling a different sensation?

I’m basically asking if something were to have pinched me would it register in my mind right away that I was just pinched?

Brief Answer:
Of course you can remember it soon after.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Usually our mind can make a difference between a pinch or different sensation.
If something punched you of course you may have remembered it soon after but as time goes on your mind is supposed to forget the event.
I think you may have taken count of pinched sensation or other sensation and may have reminded it soon.
I also see the photo you attached and the skin is untouched like nothing happened.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi there thanks for your reply.

My mind is questioning the fact that maybe I was pinched and then just for some reason did not recognize in my mind that I was just pinched? Is it even possible to be pinched by something and your mind not know that you had just felt a pinch?

Brief Answer:
See details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
Usually your mind can recognize a pinch and remember being punched soon after.
As time goes by you start to forget the event due to other everyday things.
If the pinch was stronger and may have caused a lot of pain you tend to remember it longer.

Thank you.

So if I was pinched say by a bat, I would have known in that moment that I was pinched.

I am struggling with my anxiety in this situation because when I felt a touching sensation on my leg, I believed in that moment that it felt like my track pants brushing up against me, and then I recreated the same feeling time after time. But now I am afraid that what if I didn’t feel the brushing sensation that I believed I felt and actually felt a pinch that my brain just did not recognize.

Brief Answer:
You may have remembered it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear , thank you for asking again.
I think you may have known it and remembered of it for sure if you were bitten by a bat.
I believe it is your anxiety causing those thoughts.
Possibly your pants may have caused the brushing sensation.
I think you don't have to worry much about it.
