Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.

The answer for your question is NO.
Gastritis pain is felt in the upper abdomen and it does not radiate to the upper back or sides of the head.
Looks like functional pain to me.
Local causes for pain should be looked in to before calling it as function.
Discuss with your doctor about this possibility.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Had a upper endoscopy last week have a follow up appt for results...the only thing i was told there was some inflammation in stomach...can the endoscopy detect pancreatitis also...so gastritis or pancreatitis cause same symptoms
Brief Answer:
Scan
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Both gastritis and pancreatitis cause pain in the upper abdomen.
No, endoscopy does not help to diagnose pancreatitis.
A special form of endoscopy called endoscopic ultrasound will help to diagnose pancreatic issues. But this is not commonly available.
We usually diagnose pancreatitis with ultrasound or CT scan and blood tests ( Amylase and lipase).
Let me know if you have any more questions.
