Do Skin Grafts Done 15 Years Earlier Tan Along With Natural Skin Post Sun Bath ?
Thanks for the query
Yes, the skin graft, will XXXXXXX like a normal skin when exposed to the direct rays of the sun. The skin graft has been taken from a previously normal skin, which retains the same properties of the normal skin including the melanin producing properties even after transplantation.
If the graft has been transplanted form a site where the pigmentation is different from that of the recipient site, then there will mismatching of the color. Sun tanning will definitely change the color of the graft but it might not happen as you expect. The possibility of graft getting tanned either more or less compared to that of the rest of the body is more.
Hence, if the graft is darker compared to rest of the body, then it would be safer to use a sun screen lotion containing high SPF to protect it from excessive tanning. And, the same should be done to the area around the grafted area if the graft is hypo-pigmented.
Hope I have answered your query, if you have any more doubts you are welcome.
