Do Small Bumps With Whiteheads In The Pubic Area Indicate Folliculitis?

Question: Hi Doctor,

Good day. I just wanted to know what are these small bumps in my pubic area. I think I had them after about a week or 2 after I shaved them bald. I just notice them lately. They don't hurt or anything. It just freaks me out. I've done a few searches and came up with folliculitis or ingrown hair? I tried to popped a bigger version and a hard thing came out, same as a whitehead.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Upload a few more images

Detailed Answer:
hello. thank you for writing to us.

I am Dr. Kakkar(dermatologist and venereologist). I have gone through your query and I have viewed the images.
I would keep / rule out a possibility of genital molluscum contagiosum. I request you to kindly upload a few more images(without flash) so that I am able to have a better look.

Regards

Hi doctor. I have uploaded a very clear picture of it again. I just had sex with my wife yesterday. is it a certainty that i have passed on that virus to her? I haven't had sex with anyone else since may. could i have gotten this from towels etc? thanks

Brief Answer:
Ingrown hair . Not molluscum

Detailed Answer:
thank you.

The last image is much better focused. After viewing it and comparing it to the earlier images I feel that they are simply ingrown hairs or bacterial infection rather than molluscum contagiosum. Molluscum lesions have a central pit or depression which is not visible in the last image. I suggest you to continue with Mupirocin ointment.

Regards
