Do Sore Jaw And Tooth Sensitivity To Hot And Cold Food Require Consultation?

I have noticed a clicking on the right side of my jaw as well, presumably from the grinding I might be doing at night. However, I do use a mouth guard every night.
Should I be concerned and see a specialist?
The pain is not unbearable but I'm worried there might be something wrong.
Is it supposed to hurt like this, a throbbing pain, months after the root canal procedure and crown fitting?
Might be re-infection in the root canal treated tooth.
Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Thanks for the query..
Sensitivity and soreness in tooth is commonly experienced after a root canal treatment. The most likely reason is re-infection in the tooth..
In case of mild Infection a course of antibiotics and painkillers is generally sufficient to relieve the symptoms.. so first an x ray is needed to rule out..
Second, clicking sound indicates Temporomandibular joint (located infront of the ear) related problem..
As you have teeth grinding habit it further points towards TMJ.
So a Panoramic x ray should be done and a clinical examination should be conducted by an Oral Physician to rule out the exact cause..yes please consult a specialist Oral physician.
Hope this helps..
Regards..
