Do Steroids Raise Blood Sugar Levels?

Question: I had a cortisone shotb yesterday m. My blood sugar is 259. Should I take some action?
Brief Answer:
Need not to worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting a query,
The steroid shot will usually increase the blood sugar levels, in diabetic and pre diabetic people. Need not worry much, it will be back to normal in couple of days. As only one shot is given. The cortisone is cleared fast from the body.
If the steroid treatment is to be taken again then prior intimate the doctor about it. As long term heavy dosage use may impair the GLUT 2 expression.
Any query do follow up.
Take care.
