Brief Answer:
EKG , first. Yes its too long a wait for the report
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome
I appreciate your concern
Gallstones or cholecystitis are possible. However , if the pain worsens , an EKG should be done first to rule out any cardiac cause. If the EKG is fine then PPIs like esomeprazole , anti spasmodics , I.V fluids can be given to cool down acute cholecystitis , if suspected. An Ultrasound abdomen can be done in the E.R as part of the assessment. Yes you are right Its too long to get a report of an ultrasound.
Let me know if you have any query
Thanks.

If have gallstones does the gallblader need removal
Brief Answer:
explained
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
The management can vary from person to person. If there are recurrent painful flares ,presence of associated diabetes, liver disease ( e.g cirrhosis, portal hypertension ) , gall stones are larger than 2 cm , suspicion of malignancy in the gall bladder or a history of pancreatitis then in such cases elective cholecystectomy should be preferred. Treatment with bile salt therapy can be offered if the patient is asymptomatic with no added risk factors and wants to manage the gall stones medically with drugs.
Thanks.
