2. recently she has been experiencing the following symptoms: heart flutter or irregular heartbeat, extreme nervousness, talking very fast, weakness, dizziness, breathlessness, restlessness, confused
3. do you have any suggestions? or a diagnosis?
I would recommend performing some tests:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I understand your concern and would explain that her symptoms could be related to cardiac arrhythmia, possible heart failure or thyroid gland dysfunction.
For this reason I recommend consulting with her attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:
- c resting ECG and a cardiac ultrasound
- complete blood count for anemia
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction
- a chest X ray study
- Nt pro BNP for heart failure.
If the above tests result normal, consulting with a neurologist and a psychiatrist will be necessary.
Hope you will find this information helpful!
You should discuss with her doctor on the above tests.
I remain at your disposal in case of further questions whenever you need!
Kind regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, cardiologist
1. I spoke to a friend who is a retired cardiologist and he most concerned with the high fever for 3-4 weeks; he says there can be 3 causes: [1] chronic infection, [2] cancer [3] auto immune disease
2. also since my mom takes methotrexate for psoriasis, he suggests we consult with an infections disease specialist first because he says the methotrexate lowers her immunity and makes her susceptible to infections; so we are leaning in this direction for now;
3. he is also concerned with anemia/hemoglobin
4. what do you think of his recommendation ?
thank you,
I agree with your friend’s recommendations.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again!
I agree with all his recommendations.
It is true that a chronic infection can lead to anemia, confusion, dizziness and fatigue.
It is also true that methotrexate cuses immune deficiency and trigger infections.
Hope you will find this information helpful!
Wishing all the best,
