Do You Think I Should Try And Get The Antibodies Since I'm Considered High Risk?

Question: Hi, I went to the doctor on the 29th of January complaining of severe headache, body fatigue etc and at the urgent care they gave me a covid test that came back negative. He also gave me zpack because he felt I might have a sinus infection. Came Monday I still wasn't feeling the greatest, so I went to see my private doctor on Wednesday, and she did not take a covid test, but she did give me prednisone and another antibiotic to take. I started the antibiotic but not the prednisone. Last night I started for the first time having a really bad sore throat, so I decided today which is 2/5/22 to take a home covid test and it says, I'm positive. I have loose stool but not diarrhea, no fever as of now and I'm trying to find out what should I do...... I have had 1 Pfizer vaccine shot already and I'm due for my 2nd shot this week. What do I need to be watching or become alarm about? Should I go back to urgent care now and see if they can do something for me or what? I'm truly lost now... I do have high blood pressure, hypothyroidism and elevated blood sugars and cholesterol at times. My pulse is running really high at a resting period 111 I may be dehydrated because I've had no desire to drink.... My blood pressure was 116/84 pulse 111. Listen, what can I do? Do you think I should try and get the antibodies since I'm considered high risk and if so, what concerns should I have about getting them? Like what's the pros and cons. I truly don't know what to do. Like should I try to fight this virus without the antibody support or not? Please help....Thanks

Brief Answer:
Please refer to the detailed information below

Detailed Answer:
After going through the medical query raised by you I can completely understand your situation and I would like to tell you that

1. First of all isolate yourself from other family members.
2. Visit an ER and get a proper laboratory test for COVID.
3. If test result comes positive then treatment will be decided accordingly.
4. Do not start on steroids as of now.
5. Keep yourself adequately hydrated all time.
6. Start plain water steam inhalation 4-5 times daily as that will help relieve congestion and relieve your throat soreness.

I hope this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards

Hello again

Detailed Answer:
First of all if you just go through the details which you have provided you said you took home covid test which came positive, that was the reason I suggested to get a lab test done to confirm.

Secondly as now you got a confirmation of positive results just relax and don’t panic. Here is what you need to do

1. Tab Azithromycin 500mg one tab once a day for 5 days
2. Tab Vit C one tab daily
3. Warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day
4. Drink plenty of fluids
5. Monitor your saturation levels while at home. It should stay above 93-95 % at room air.

You need not take second dose just now, as you got infected so your body is already in the process of producing antibodies against the virus.

Take your other medications regularly as before.

Rest as much as you can and do deep breathing routine for 5 mins for couple of times a day.

Sorry for late response, I was given the zpack on the 29th when I first went in and since then as of today I'm feeling better but I have headaches . The only real nuisance to me recovering is the headaches and slight sore throat still. My concern about the headaches is I have high blood pressure and hypothyroidism; prediabetes and elevated cholesterol so is there a particular test or something that could be done to make sure that the headaches are coming from the covid and not a blood clot or aneurism or something? The hospital called me today to ask me to come in for the Sotrovimab IV procedure, but I don't know if that will help me with the headaches? I'm taking Tylenol around the clock, but I am very concerned. Any input would be warranted at this point. Thanks

Hello again

Detailed Answer:
There is no test that can tell whether the headache is due to covid or not. Also there is no need for any test as of now.

As you are already recovering, things will be much better in a matter of few days. Just take proper rest and visit the hospital as advised by them.

Doc, why would I visit the hospital especially if I'm slowly recovering. At this point do you think I'm still contagious or out of danger from having organ damage? I keep feeling those little zap like feeling in my chest area and the doctor thinks it could just be anxiety, but I'm not convinced of that. What should I be doing now to get on through this? What can I take to get the COVID out of my system faster? Is there a detox or anything? So at this point are you trying to tell me that I need to do the Sotrovimab IV procedure? When will I be able to get my 2nd Pfizer vaccine?

Dr. ,
I don't see my last question at all but please help with this: I feel very dehydrated. I have not been able to drink or eat as much as I would like. Can you drink Biolyte or I should say do you think that will help me at all or should I go and get an IV. Also, I have been having a discomfort feeling off and on that is like a nerve tremor or something in the left breast upper area from time to time. It feel like an electrical current or tremor when it occurs. I don't know should I try pepcid or could it be acid reflux or could it be damage caused by COVID? I just pray I'm not having a heart attack or something along those lines? My husband and I both tested negative on home tests and we took PCR test on Friday but do you think it's ok for us to be around one another now? This virus is so wicked. Other than the discomfort in chest and the inability to be able to drink as much as I would like. I don't feel really bad. I do get tired very quickly though I've noticed? Can I go ahead and start taking a good probiotic now? Please let me know what you feel I need to do. having issues as usual. Thanks

Hello again

Detailed Answer:
Yes you can drink biolyte, it will help.

For your acid reflux you can take some proton pump inhibitors like Pantoprazole capsule one cap daily empty stomach in morning for 7 days. You can start with any good probiotic as that will not cause any harm.

And Ma’am you need to calm down and relax and be together with your husband and spend some quality time. Stop thinking negative. You will be all fine.

Kind Regards

Dr. P, Good morning. Let me start off by saying, I am not trying to be NEGATIVE, but I have been through alot since 2/5/22 of contracting Covid and I'm so sorry that you feel I'm so NEGATIVE. I'm just trying to be properly informed and stay as healthy as possible and not make my family sick in the process if that makes sense to you. I am actually feeling better but still have a few things of concern that I need to address. Right now, I am battling with still having kind of loose stools not diarrhea but not solid either. I need to know what I can do to have solid stools again?? Also, the pressure I was feeling in the chest, I do believe it was REFLUX because once I got my doctors to start me on Omeprazole 20 mg once a day the discomfort has subsided big time. They also gave me Methocarbamol 500mg to take 4 times a day for muscle spasm, but I have not started taking it yet. That medicine was given because I was having pain in the back middle of my shoulder blade area especially when I moved my arms forward, I could feel it. Do you think I should take it? Here's my main concern at the moment. My partner and I had covid at the same time but he is fully vaccinated and boostered and of course I only had 1 shot of Pfizer at the time when I got the virus but now, I'm concerned about being around him or sleeping in the same room/bed because of the concern of being reinfected. We both have negative tests now, but he is an avid traveling volleyball player who plays with all types of people, so I feel the risk is a high risk with him. That's how I think I got covid in the beginning from him. I was told from a friend that since we both had the virus, we now have the antibodies, but she said she thinks that the antibodies protect us only toward the Omicron variant we allegedly had and not any other strain. Is this correct? I'm not trying to worry but I do want to be as educated as I can be on what to do and what not to do moving forward to be as safe as possible. My son is in the home as well, but he is fully vaccinated and boostered but has heart problems as well. Is there any test or blood work that we can take to ensure we are where we need to be to lower my chance of becoming infected again or anything? I really don't know what to do?

Hello again

Detailed Answer:
Ma’am I totally understand you. As you both are negative now, What you can do is to strongly recommend your husband to take precautions while in public like wearing masks properly and maintain a proper social distance.

As this is a viral disease which is constantly evolving, so, yes anyone can contract this illness multiple times due to different variants. This is why hand sanitisation, wearing of masks and social distancing is important.

In general it has been observed that antibodies persist inside the body for atleast 3-4months after vaccination or getting infected naturally. So you can wait for a while before your next shot.

You can get your antibody titre level checked to ensure your immune response.

But still the strongest way to prevent it is those three precautions only.

Dr. P,
Is it true that as new variants come they are usually weaker than the previous one or not? Also, what is the exact name of the antibody titre level test and what would be an acceptable level for that test because I'm going to order one today asap? The antibodies that are in my body now are they only fighting against omnicron or any variant? The doctor here think we had omicron.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Hello again

Detailed Answer:
No, that’s not true every time. Test name is Covid IgG and IgM antibody levels.

Range for IgG is 0.43 - 187
Range for IgM is 0.26 - 24

If some other variant is morphologically different from omicron then yes these antibodies won’t be able to give full protection.
