Do You Think Mild Gastritis And One Polyp Will Go Away With My Medicine?

Question: Hello, about 14 months ago I had a endoscopy into the stomach, etc and a colonoscopy. Findings were mild gastritis and one polyp which was removed.
I'm having a tremendous amount of stress in my life inclusive of a start up business at my age and a partner who stole $3m from the business....crazy stuff. Anyway, I'm having discomfort in the upper stomach and kind of a weird sensation part of the day from my upper stomach, sternum area up to about where you would insert a trach. Dr put me on 40mg before dinner of Prilosec. I have been taking about 5-6 days but do not note any difference. Sometimes I get better actually as the day goes on...generally worse at night and waking up in am. I have no weight loss, no blood, no trouble swallowing, no blood in stool, voice okay, no other notable symptoms. I smoked between 18-33 but stopped 37 years ago. I did drink 10-12 wines per week but basically only drink 4-5 wines per month as it was noted incidentally that I have mild fatty liver. I am a worrier and with the stress it makes things worse. I always worry about getting cancer because my grandmother died of colon cancer and my dad died young at 55 of Lung cancer although he was a 1 1/2 pack per day smoker and exposed to radiation at Bikini Atol after World War II. Do you think it will go away with my medicine? Any thoughts? Do I need to do another endoscopy? Thank you. Happy New Years!
