Does 10 Mg Of Prednisone Really Make Much Of A Difference In Plalets?
Question: I have ITP and I was given prednisone (80mg/day) and responded well. Platelets went from 18 to 149 in a week. Then it tapered off 70 and 60 mg/day and platelets went below. Does 10 mg of prednisone really make that much of a difference?
Brief Answer:
SMALL DOSAGE OF PREDNISOLONE DOES HELP IN ITP
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read your concern and understood your query. Prednisolone is usually tapered and a low dose is maintained in ITP with a goal of achieving long term remission. Hence a low dose such as 10 mg does help in maintaining the platelet count and prevent bleeding .
Hope I have clarified your concern .Do reach out for further concerns
