Does Adderall Has Any Effects On The Dopamine Levels In The Brain?

Question: I’ve been taking 90mgs of adderall for the past two years due to counted use and a build up of tolerance I know that i shouldn’t have and i realize that if i continue the problem will only get worse. I want thing to go back to the way things use to be (as in i take 30 mg once a day and it last for several hours), but I’ve also read that adderall causes permanent Nero toxic brain damage to the dopamine receptors in the brain and that my high level of tolerance will never go back down to where it used to be , even if i stop taking it for an extended period of time, please tell me if this is true.
Brief Answer:
Adderall dose should be lowered to normal dose.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
It is true that Adderall affects dopamine levels in brain by changing the mechanisms of dopamine production and metabolism.
This is done by changing the expression of certain genes.
If you continue with those high doses, neurotoxicity is possible.
It is important to return to allowed doses of Adderall and to use supplements that act as neuroprotective agents.
These include vitamin C, vitamin D3, magnesium supplements, melatonin.
It is necessary also to avoid alcohol use.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Greetings.

how do i know if its has not already done permanent damage
Brief Answer:
Depends on the symptoms.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
Adderall can damage dopamine producing neurons, resulting in Parkinson's like disease.
It depends on your symptoms of there was damage or not.
If no symptoms similar to Parkinson's, there was no significant damage.
