Posted on Mon, 11 May 2015
Question: Started antabuse a month ago. No side effects. Now two days of severe abdominal pains--like bad gas. Is it the antabuse? What to do? Like the security of being on it. 27 yo male with no other medical issues but bad alcohol abuse/binge-style.

Brief Answer:
It is probably not due to the antabuse.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Health Care magic. Thank you for posting your query.
I can understand your concern.

Hopefully yo haven't started consuming alcohol again.

I would suggest you to
- Avoid oily food
- I would start tablet Drotin DS and tablet norfloxacin - this will relieve your symptoms.
- Get a liver function test done.

However if the pain does not subside , stop the antabuse.

Visit a clinician. He/she can examine you and correlate clinically.

Hope this helps.
