Question: I got this blood test result on Friday, July 14th and I am confused to how it is read and if there's a chance that i might be pregnant. I've never been pregnant before and don't know the terminology of it.
So please help, thanks.

Since i can't upload the picture, it reads:
BETA HCG QUANT 0.14 MIU/ML

P.S. I've been waking up sick with a runny and stuffed nose. My feet swell up at night and sometimes my hands too for 2 weeks now. I've been urning frequently and have headaches that happened for no reason.

Brief Answer:
Interpreting the test results

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Beta HCG of 0.14 Miu/ml is below the pregnancy range. However, this single test result does not rule out pregnancy. Repeat the quantitative beta HCG level in 4 days. If the HCG level goes up, then pregnancy is definitely possible. Once the beta HCG level rises to sufficient levels, pelvic ultrasound can confirm pregnancy.

Given your symptoms, I would also recommend getting urine analysis and culture done to rule out urinary tract infection.

I have gone through the report attached. Your thyroid function is also well within normal.

My doctor did a urine analysis and there was no urinary tract infection.

Can the HCG hormone appear in the body due to birth control pills? Or to what other reason?
Can it be a hormonal imbalance?

I just want to know the difference

Brief Answer:
HCG hormone

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

HCG hormone is normally produced in a little amount by the pituitary gland. That is why levels less than 5 miu/ml is considered not to be indicative of pregnancy. The presence of HCG in blood is not indicative of any hormonal imbalance. Contraceptive pills do not produce or affect HCG in anyway.
Your levels are within normal range for non pregnant women. Nothing to be worried about.
If you do not get your periods in next 3 days, repeat the HCG testing to see if the levels are rising which is indicative of pregnancy.

Dr.Lekshmi
