Question: I am male, age 72, in good health. Problem is ED, specifically inability to maintain an erection while having intercourse and inability to maintain an erection long enough to climax. Prolactin levels have been high, ranging from 27 to 41 between 2007 and now. Would using cabergoline to reduce prolactin levels improve the ED? My Dad and his Dad had Parkinson's. I have essential tremor but not Parkinson's as far as I know. I suspect my Dopamine is not controlling the Prolactin sufficiently.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Cabergoline is an ergot medication and works by blocking the release of prolactin from the pituitary gland. It can help in reducing the ED and is taken usually twice a week or as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment (prolactin levels).
Do consult your endocrinologist for proper dose regulation to have an optimum effect and least side effects.
