Does Cortisone Injection Cause Breast Swelling?

default
Posted on Thu, 18 Feb 2016
Question: To Dr.Chelma XXXXXXX OB/GYN,
We discussed if the cortisone injection I got in left shoulder near the shoulder blade for arthritis could be causing the right breast swelling I discussed with you 2 days ago.
When I go for the Diagnostic Mammogram & Ultrasound, any suggestions re what to ask for questions?
Do you think they will really have to do a biopsy? Any foods to lessen swelling?

THank you very much!! I appreciate your answers so much. They are very helpful.
Warm Regards,

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir, thanks for writing to us again.
I don't think a biopsy will be needed for this and just examination and ultrasound if needed will suffice.
Avoid cold beverages and try to give rest to the affected region in the form of minimal activity.
You can ask about the reason and most probable duration of healing.
Also ask if there is any lymph node involvement at all.
Moat likely it is all related to cortisol injection so ask if the injection wil be needed again and if at all needed will that cause this same swelling.
Take care
