Question: my ferritin level is 14 can that cause neck and shoulder pain
also my hemoglobin and blood count was fine but i have been taking 2500 mgs of curcumin as a supplement fot quite some time
I HAVE ALSO RESEARCHED CURCUMIN AND IT CAN BE AN IRON CHELATER WHICH MIGHT BE WHY MY FERRITIN LEVELS HAVE DROP IS THAT POSSIBLE

Hello,

there is no relation between iron deficiency and shoulder pain.
Curcumin may indeed decrease iron absorption and lead to iron deficiency. You should stop using it and see what happens. If your iron drops again, then another cause has to be sought.

Besides that, since you're 65 years old, it is advisable that you undergo a colonoscopy. A colonoscopy may identify various causes of iron deficiency (bleeding sites) in the large bowel. The gastroenterologist may sometimes correct some of the causes during the test. Iron deficiency in post-menopausal women always needs investigation, so you've got at least two good reasons to do the test!
