Does Dexamethasone Cause Sleeplessness And Frequent Urination?
Question: I have been asked to carry out a Dexathome Supension test as they wanted to rule out cushing syndrome. I am in the UK. I was told to take a tablet at 12 Midnight which I have done and have to go for a blood test tomorrow morning at 9 am however I am having difficulty in getting to sleep and have had to go to the toilet 4 times in the past 1.25 hours is this a normal pattern.
Brief Answer:
Sometimes yes
Detailed Answer:
Dexamethasone generally does not cause any problems when taken in this manner for the test.
However, when dexamathasone like medications are taken at night they can cause difficulty sleeping. It is not known to cause frequent urination or bowel motion.
I suggest you go ahead with the test but inform your doctor about this experience
