Does Domperidone Prevent Ovulation?
Question: Hi, my gastro-ent. prescribed me a month and a half ago Domperidone for GI issues (3x 10mg), but I am also TTC for a year now. My concern is whether Domperidone can prevent me from ovulating, thus unabling the conception? I noticed that my last cycle was shorter than usually: 21 days.
Brief Answer:
No relation between two
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
There is nothing to worry as domperidone has no effect on periodic cycle.
The shortening of your cycle is just coincidental and nor related to the same.
You can very try for conception with maximum chances of pregnancy in mid cycle intercourse.
All the best.

Hi, thank you for answering. The reason for my question is that I read that Domperidone raises prolactin levels and that some women take it to increase milk flow when breastfeeding. If it increases prolactin, wouldn't it have effects of cycle and ovulation? Thank you again! Best regards
Brief Answer:
No effect on prolactin levels
Detailed Answer:
No dear there is no relation of domperidone with prolactin levels and this is the reason that it is preferred over metoclopramide.
Both these drugs have same effect but domperidone is preferred as it cannot cross blood brain barrier and is thus safe as far as raised prolactin levels are concerned.
But I'm deeply impressed by your knowledge and concern about health.
It is genuinely remarkable and u wish you a healthy pregnancy soon.
