Does Duphastone Aid In Abortion?
Question: Am confused. 4th week of pregnancy and planning an abortion. My dr said I should first tryDuphaston 2x10mg per day, for 7 days, before using misoprostol and the likes. Reading about this med, it says that it helps strengthen and protect pregnancy. Why does my dr think it will induce miscarriage?
Brief Answer:
Should not be taken if planning abortion
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.Duphastone is a progesterone which makes uterine environment more favourable for fetus and assists in continuation of pregnancy. It should NOT be taken at all if you are planning abortion. It is never given to induce abortion. You should clarify with your doctor the reason for taking it.
