Does Fentanyl Patch Usage Result In Dark Foul Smelling Urine?

Question: I recently was on a fentanyl patch for 1 mo for severe pain. I now have dark, foul smelling urine. Do you think the patch caused this? I'm off the patch now

I do not find any definite correlation between the dark foul smelling urine and the use of fentanyl patch and hence consider them unrelated. However, the presentation is likely to have occurred due to an urinary tract infection and you should get a routine microscopy of your urine done. Also drink plenty of water and fluids.
