Does I Pill Cause Delay In Periods?
Question: Hi.. I had my last period on 15th of nov, had sex on 5th and ipill after 5 hours. Thereafter I was supposed to get down on 15th of December but still haven't got my period. I took hpt around 25th of December with morning urine which came out negative thrice. As suggested by one of the doctors on this forum only I didnot take progesterone tablet for the withdrawal of bleeding being scared of the side effects. It's been nearly 13 days. Can you tellme what can be the reason of not getting my period yet? Kindly let me know the possibilities as visiting a doctor in person is a bit tough for me. Thanks in anticipation.
Brief Answer:
Side effect of I-Pill.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us about it.
I can understand your concern here.
The menses may be delayed due to side effect of I-Pill because it may cause menstrual irregularities due to hormonal imbalance because it contains a high dose of hormone in it.
As it has been already 13 days and your pregnancy test results are negative chances of pregnancy are very less.
You can take progesterone after consultation with your doctor for withdrawal bleeding because it is a prescription medication.
As such, one time use can not cause so many side effects.
Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more.
Good luck.

Hi
Thanks for the advice.
Further is it normal for the period to get delayed by 15 days after having ipill. And it's not possible for me to consult a doc in person as mentioned above so can't I wait for next month to get my period naturally or is it important to get it right now only?

Brief Answer:
You can wait.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Nice to hear from you once again.
Yes, I-Pill can cause delayed menses by one to two weeks.
So you can wait for your menses as the chances of pregnancy are not there in your case.( If you are not able to consult a doctor). Or consult any local doctor for prescription.
Hope it is useful.
Good luck.

Yes! it can be most probably a side effect of I-pill (which can cause hormonal imbalance due to it contains high amount of hormones), if your period was regular before taking an I-pill.
Good luck.
