Does IVF Treatment Help In Dealing With Infertility?
Question: Hi, I've suffered with 5 consecutive miscarriages all before 12 weeks in the past 6 years.
I'm 34 years old.
After much investigation, I was told I have raised blood fasting insulin and a 4g/4g PAI-1 gene which I believe means I have an impaired response to clot breakdown hence poor implantation.
I've been told when I next get pregnant, I will be taking aspirin/ heparin as well as metformin which I'm already taking now.
My concern is, I haven't conceived in the last 12 months. Is this normal? Do I need any other tests? Or do I try IVF? I'm so confused and desperate.
Please help.

Brief Answer:
PGS with IVF will help you
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for your query.
I have read you query and I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply:
1) Considering your situation and age it is better to try IVF soon without wasting any more time. There are few test that might be performed if you are ready for IVF.
2) You can undergo PGS ( Preimplantation genetic screening) test to identify any possible chromosomal problems. Because chromosomal problems are main causes of recurrent miscarriages before 12 weeks and not elevated insulin level.
I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.
Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.

Dr. Mahesh Koregol.
