Does Klonopin, Buspar, Amitriptyline, Meclizine Or Lamictal Taken For Anxiety And Migraine Cause Severe Hair Loss?

Question: Hope you can. I have been on 1) Klonopin, Buspar, amitriptyline, meclizine and Lamictal for anxiety and migraines for at least 8 years. I am losing my hair, have terrible bald spots. do any or all of these meds cause balding? I've been told by my pharmacist they do. If so, are there alternative for these anxiety (generalized that just popped up one day) meds or the migraine meds that would not cause balding? I've been to many doctors about my balding and none of them have even mentioned my meds could be the cause. I am a female and quite distraught about this. I now have o wear wigs. Delia Sadler
Brief Answer:
About hair loss and medications causing it!
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
From your description , i van understand that it is not a generalized but it is areata baldness and in most if the cases it has autoimmune origin.
The mefications you mention do not cause an areata baldness.
The main treatment of it consists in corticosteroid shots, but before saying it for sure i would ask to attach a picture of the scalp.
It would help us to.make a more accurate diagnosis.
Will be a pleasure to help you further.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
