Does Makkana Leads To Allergy Like Throat Pain ?
Hello,
Detailed Answer:
Hello, welcome to ask a doctor services. I have read your question.
I am sorry to hear that you ate Makkana & are presently suffering from allergy symptoms like throat pain while swallowing food and water.
Makkana should always be taken in moderate amount as excessive intake may cause allergy symptoms. Prefer taking it with milk. Avoid taking makkana dry as a snack, it may hurt your delicate throat mucosa thus causing you discomfort.
You are suggested to take liquid or semi solid food to avoid further hurting your throat mucosa as you are having difficulty swallowing food and water.
Take sips of water and fluid throughout the day. Keep yourself well hydrated as drying of the mucosa will trigger your pain and discomfort. Give voice rest.
To avoid coughing and straining your mucosa keep cough lozenges in your mouth. Use a room humidifier to stay comfortable.
You can take analgesic, one stat after food to get relieve from pain. To reduce the symptoms of allergy you can take antihistamine(fexofenadine), one at bed time for 3(three) days. It will relieve you of your symptoms. The side effect is sedation so stay at rest and avoid driving or doing any heavy work.
Take break from work and do not go outdoors for a few days to avoid trigger of your symptoms due to pollution, smoke, pollen, animal dander, dust, etc.
Avoid addictions of any, smoking, alcohol, drugs, etc. Stay away from spicy oily food as they can also trigger your symptoms.
In case, your symptoms persist then you should get clinically examined by an ENT, you may need antibiotics and a few tests to get done.
Hope I have answered your question. Get well. Take care.
