Does Malarone Affect Fertility?

Question: I will be travelling to Nigeria next week for 5 days. I have been advised to take Malerone as an anti-malarial medication- so I will be starting the medication on the 10th, then taking it through to on/around the 23rd.

My wife and I will be undertaking IVF treatment at the end of January and I am concerned that the Malerone could affect my sperm in some manner and wondered if you could advise if this would be the case. Unfortunately, both dates are fixed, so there does not seem to be a way to avoid taking the medication this close ot the IVF treatment.

Hi,

I understand your concerns about possibility of sperms getting affected.

Sperma are manufactured 3 months back. Taking any Medicines now for a short time this month won't affect your sperms.

I don't see any reason to worry about it. Moreover malerone does not affect your sperms. You can safely continue with antimalarial medicines. Let me reassure you that these won't harm your sperms.
