Thanks for query . Based on the facts that you have posted, Erectile Dysfunction can not be due to Metoprolol that you are taking for hypertension.

1) Do you have any associated Urinary symptoms like frequency for urination , nocturia, urgency , poor urinary stream suggestive of enlarged prostate (a common manifestation at this age).
The Ed that you have could be due to following factors -
1) Age related Atherosclerosis resulting into diminished blood flow to erectile tissue in penis (This is common cause for ED at elderly age group)
2) Primarily due to Hypertension itself
3) Reduced level of Serum Testosterone
You need to consult qualified Urologist and get investigated to find out the cause for ED so as plan appropriate treatment .
You can start taking 5mg of Cialis daily and take 10-20 mg of Cialis on the day of planned sexual activities. This works better at this age and helps to get good hard erection .
