Does Mifepristone Help Avoid Pregnancy?

Question: I am a 23 year old girl. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2013 so I have irregular periods. I used to take Meprate every two months to get my period. My last period was on March 7th '17. I had taken Meprate pills on Feb 27th '17 for 5 days two times a day. I took Mifepristone on April 9th '17 after having unprotected sex the previous day (April 8th '17). I also took Meprate for five days two times a day from April 11th '17 to 15th '17. I want to know if I'm pregnant or if my periods have been delayed.

Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Mifepristone is not an emergency contraceptive pill and hence taking it after unprotected intercourse will not prevent the pregnancy.
So, the chances of pregnancy are there.
The withdrawal bleeding should occur within 7 days of stopping the drug.
I suggest you to get a urine pregnancy test done.
If negative, then you should take another progesterone hormone norethisterone to induce the withdrawal bleeding.

Thank you Doctor. So when can I take the urine pregnancy test? I heard that you have to wait for at least 21 days after unprotected sex to take a urine pregnancy test. Or can I take one before that to get the results? Also my hymen is still intact after sex. I wanted to mention this point earlier if it makes any difference. Kindly let me know when I can take the urine pregnancy test.

Since you had intercourse around ovulation, you can take pregnancy test 14 days after the intercourse.
