Question: Can I take .75 mirtazapine and .75 ativan together as a sleep aid. I am tapering off the ativan but still need some help to sleep.

Hello,

The combination of Ativan and mirtazapine is ok but together they can increase drowsiness and decrease mental clarity because of sedative properties.

Did your doctor prescribe mirtazapine, i.e. are you already on this medication? Because there may be other medications you can try for sleeping while weaning off the Ativan, such as trazadone. However, if you are already on mirtazapine, this would be reasonable to do.

Either way, it would be best to discuss this with the doctor who is prescribing these 2 medications as they know what has been tried in the past and where you are at with things.
