Brief Answer: Possible, but not a very significant rise Detailed Answer: Hello Mr. XXXXXXX Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. AST (SGOT) is normally found in a variety of tissues including liver, heart, muscle, kidney, and brain. It is released into the serum when any one of these tissues is is cycling cells faster than normal. If you have even a mild muscle bruise, your SGOT can go up by that level. This faster than normal cycling can be due to stress or injury of any of those tissues. Normally we do not worry about minor elevations in these numbers as it is quite common for the body to destroy old tissues and break them down for recycling. So don't worry about the isolated lab. if you would like you can upload all the rest of the liver results and we can discuss them in their entirety. Feel free to follow up for this or anything else. Take care!
