Does Pepto Bismol Help Cure Mild Stomach Upset?
Question: My 91 year old husband took a 5 year old dose of Pepto Bismol for mild upset stomach. His stomach is has a burning sensation all night. He forced himself to vomit several times, but still has the awful burning. Will it get better and what should he do to relieve this problem?
Brief Answer:
Gastritis
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but it seems that the expired ingredients have caused him gastritis which is inflammation of the stomach mucosa .. I would recommend that he takes omeprazol once daily together with an antacid as ranitidine three times daily preferably before every meal . he should try to eat only easy swallowed soft foods as jelly , yoghurt, soap, sauted vegetables and fruits .. he should avoid fatty or spicy food . This is expected to improve within a couple of days .. I hope I answered your question..
