Does Primulot Intake In Pregnancy Cause Harm To The Growing Fetus?
Regular antenatal checkups, ultrasound examination
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Primulot n belongs to category D drugs in pregnancy according to FDA.
Means according to studies this may affect the fetus.
But as you used the tablets only for limited period in early weeks of pregnancy, there may not be any major problem.
Seacure tablets contains hydroxyprogesterone caproate.
It belongs to category B drugs in pregnancy.
Means according to animal studies no adverse effects on fetus reported.
So, you can use them as advised by your doctor.
Regular antenatal checkups and ultrasound examination at 11 weeks and TIFFA scan at around 20 weeks are necessary to rule out anomalies and to monitor the well being of the baby.
Hope I have answered your question. I will be available to answer followup queries. If you are satisfied with the response, please give your review at the end of the discussion.
Take care.
No need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The risk of having side effects on fetus with primulot n in early weeks of pregnancy is less.
Rarely it may cause masculization of female fetus when taken in later weeks of pregnancy but in early weeks this problem may not arise.
Sometimes urine pregnancy test kit may not detect early pregnancy, that can be one cause for your delayed diagnosis of pregnancy.
Your other reports are normal.
You can continue the pregnancy with regular checkups. Hopefully there may not be any problem.
Take care.
One last concern we had was that I was inside a CT scan room with my husband before starting of the test and after the test was over for him. Can this be of any concern and could there be any possible exposure to radiation while I was in the room before and after the test and out of the room in the adjacent monitoring and observation area while the test was running? We were not aware of my pregnancy while this happened. Thanks!
Risk is low
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Usually before and after the procedure there may not be any radiation exposure.
Before starting the procedure the attendants will be advised to come out of the room.
There will not be any radiation exposure in adjacent observation area.
So the possibility of exposure to radiation is less in your case.
Better to take regular antenatal checkups and ultrasound examinations to monitor the growth and well being of the baby.
Take care.
