default
Posted on Sat, 24 Oct 2015
Question: I'm doing my 1st IVF cycle. I'm on day 8 of taking progynova as part of a shutdown before I start infections on 9/10 but it didn't stop my period that has started today. Is progynova supposed to stop your period?

Brief Answer:
Progynova does not stop bleeding

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your query.

I have read you query and I understand your concerns about bleeding.

Following is my reply:

1) Progynova contains estradiol hormone and it does not stop you periods.

2) If you are still bleeding on 8th day of your cycle then you should not go ahead with IVF.

3) You need to get your endometrium tested by doing hysteroscopy to understand cause of bleeding before going for IVF cycle. You can check if there is fibroid or polyp causing such prolonged bleeding.

I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.

Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.

Regards,
Dr. Mahesh Koregol.
