Question: I recently added Cardura to my blood pressure meds Tekturna, Amolodipine,Atorvastatin, my Doctor added Cardura due to bladder control issues. I also have a-fib and my Cardiologist has me on Flexainide. Before Cardura my blood pressure averaging 149/95, now was just 105/58 and I have had some dizzy spells, one even passing out. I also take Cialis and Verapamil. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
dizziness is due to hypotension, need to alter one of the bp meds

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are some interactions that can possibly occur between the medications mentioned.

In terms of dropping the blood pressure, according to medscape drug interaction chcecker---(1)cialis increases the effects of doxazosin (cardura), which means it would increase the blood pressure lowering effect
(2)atorvastatin increases the levels of tekturna
(3)verapamil also increases its levels
(4)cardura and verapamil may also interact to lower blood pressure

There are medications that can help with the bladder that would not affect blood pressure though there may be other problems that occur eg flomax/tamsulosin.

This medication, though it would not have a significant lowering of your blood pressure like cardura, may cause erectile issuses in some men.

The alternative would be reduce the dose of one of your blood pressure medications or stop one of them completely. This should only be done along with your doctor

Till you can see or speak to your doctor, you can try to raise your blood pressure by: (1)increasing fluid intake slightly and with a slight increase in salt intake (do the opposite to what is advised for high blood pressure)

Summary: (1) the cardura helps with bladder control but also reduces blood pressure
(2)increasing fluid intake and salt intake slightly would help raise your blood pressure till you can see or speak to your doctor
(3)one of your blood pressure meds may need to be altered or stopped completely

I hope this helps , feel free to ask any other questions
