Does Terbutaline Intake During Pregnancy Cause Side Effects In Baby?
Question: Have there been any long term effects identified for a baby where the mother took terbutaline to stop premature labor? My son, now 28, has severe anxiety disorder and I wondered if this could have stemmed from extended use of terbutaline to prevent premature delivery.
Brief Answer:
Terbutaline won't cause anxiety in children
Detailed Answer:
Hello there,
No, the use of terbutaline (uterine relaxant) in pregnancy period won’t cause long time effect. It is definitely not the cause his anxiety now.
Most common symptoms are tachycardia [increased heart rate] and hypoglycaemia only in newborn child. As your son is 28 years am sure it is definitely not related to your terbutaline use.
Take care.
