Does Trulicity Interact With Metformin And Invokana?

Question: My husband is a diabetic. He is taking Metformin and Invokana. Yesterday, his doctor added Trulicity and today he has felt drugged all day. He said all he wants to do is lay down and sleep. He did take a nap for about 4 hours this afternoon and feels like this is not right. Is this common?
Brief Answer:
sleepiness in Diabetes is almost always related to fluctuation in Sugar
Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to health care magic,
You are currently on Metformin and Canagliflozin, and dulaglutide has been added that is once a week.
In my experience as a practicing Diabetologist, sleepiness and insomnia in Diabetes is almost always related to fluctuation in blood glucose.
I would advise a sensor and Continuous glucose monitoring to rule this out.
If blood glucose is steady, then we have to think of other causes--
Is Invokana leading to urinary tract infection, are there stomach symptoms, is there kidney or liver problem or anemia?
Please revert back to me--regards

His BG was at 112 less than 2 hours after eating and his 3 month fasting average is over 120. He is going to eat something else and hope that it helps him. He now thinks it may be that his BG has been an average of 143 over the last month and his body is going to take a little getting used to the lower numbers.
Brief Answer:
You've hit the nail on the head!
Detailed Answer:
You've hit the nail on the head! Chronic Diabetics have a higher threshold at which they start experiencing a feeling of hypoglycaemia (low sugar) and its symptoms. He has to solve this by eating small frequent meals in between major ones and monitor his sugar frequently till he becomes comfortable at a level around 120- 130 fasting and 170-180 post meal. Alternately he can lower dose of medication.
