Does Wellbutrin Cause A Slight Increase In The Blood Pressure?
My doc has just increased by antidepressant wellbutrin from 100 to 150 plus Deplin 15 mgs. My blood pressure has been really high for the past several days-- since the increase. Should I add avapro or tenormin? This is the only antidepressant the works for me. Or add...Hawthorne berry?PS I get regular exercise and eat 5 fruits and veggies daily, and am otherwise very healthy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.
Wellbutrin can rarely cause a slight increase in blood pressure. This is not a reason to lower the dose or change the drug, so it is safe to continue using Wellbutrin. If your blood pressure is above 140/90, you can consider adding an antihypertensive medication. Neither Avapro or Tenormin are first-line agents -- I would instead start with amlodipine or lisinopril.

I appreciate your good answers. My blood pressure is up and down-- from 120/70 to 154/81 and variations in between throughout the day.
As you did not address the Deplin, I am assuming you think it is not a relevant player in this situation.
I am reluctant to add another med-- I would prefer adding a natural supplement such as potassium, or hawthorn berry or? I do understand these are not regulated so are difficult to assess. Do you have familiarity with them?
Certainly I will consider your thought to work with you on a personalized basis.

Detailed Answer:
Since your diastolic blood pressure is not above 90, I do not see a reason to add any medication.
I cannot recommend either of those supplements, as the content of supplements is not regulated and they often contain other harmful ingredients such as mercury.
