Brief Answer:
Subclinical hypothyroidism - may need treatment in selected cases

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your questions and understand your concerns.

The condition in which your thyroid hormones are normal and TSH is slightly high is called subclinical hypothyroidism- a small decrease in thyroid function.

It requires treatment if you have any of these three factors:

1. You have a thyroid swelling ( goiter)
2. You have high cholesterol
3. If you have anti thyroid antibodies in blood ( a blood test)

If you don't have any of these, no treatment is needed and you can repeat a test after 6 months.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further questions, I will be pleased to help you.

Regards
Dr Ajish TP
