Brief Answer:
A cheaper and less complicated option available
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Colostomy is a surgery , would be expensive, will require post operative, colostomy bags are expensive and you would require training in colostomy care. These would cost quite a bit.
A simpler and cheaper option would be to try using adult diapers for him.
Do get back to me if you have further questions.

I don't believe the diaper would hold him through the night and I believe medical insurance would cover most of the costs you outlined. Care could be handled on a daily basis. Without requiring all night duty from a nurse. The follow-up question. Am I wrong?

Detailed Answer:
Theoretically it is possible to have a solution like colostomy. But I wonder if a gastrointestinal surgeon, who is to do the colostomy, would consider nocturnal diarrhoea as an indication for colostomy.
No harm done in trying out the diaper. Get the largest you can find in the market and put it on just before he retires to bed. If it does not work, one can think of more invasive approaches.
Best wishes,
