Question: I took a pcr dna hiv test that came back not detected 8 weeks ago do i need to take an hiv antibody test also to confirm my hiv negative status?

How long after the exposure, you had your PCR test? If it is after 3-4 weeks, then it can be taken as conclusive. The negative test ruled out the possibility of HIV 1 infection. To rule out HIV 2 infection, you have to take up an antibody detection test after the window period.

HIV Antibdy test by 9 weeks is highly reliable as it crossed the window period. But can be considered more conclusive by 12 weeks as the antibody formation against HIV in the presence of an infection could be delayed in some individuals. If you don't mind, you can repeat the test once agin after 12 weeks to get a more confirmed result.
