Does A Swollen And Blackened Bruise Require Medical Attention?
Question: I had a nasty fall on Wednesday and my left hand is turning black. Should I seek help for this or is putting ice and heat on it enough?
Brief Answer:
Fracture needs to be ruled out.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have seen the attached photo. You have a large swelling and skin color changes in the hand. This suggests a hematoma formation. A fracture needs to be ruled out after an X-ray.
If there is any numbness in the fingers then an immediate physician evaluation is needed. Keep the hand elevated on two pillows while resting to decrease the swelling.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
