Does Anxiety And Depression Cause Low Testosterone Level In A Person?

Question: I am 36 years old and I am wondering about low testosterone. About a year ago I was tested and I had a bit lower than average testosterone. I basically have no sex drive anymore, I work out 4 days a week and do not gain any muscle mass, have increased body fat, I lack alot of enthusiasm, I get irritable very easily and have depression, ADD and anxiety. I have very little body hair and most of the hair on my legs has dissapeared and I have enlarged breasts. I take adderall, buproprion, and sertaline. I wanted to explore testosterone replacement treatment and wondered if I would be a candidate for it?
Brief Answer:
Check testosterone level:
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
You are right, the symptoms you reported are suggestive for low testosterone level but it should be confirmed laboratorically.
You should check Testosterone level and SHBG (testosterone binding globuline).
I would suggest also to check thyroid function (TSH level) and prolactin level at 8.00 am), as often they may be a cause of low testosterone level.
After having the above result will be a pleasure to suggest you rather you need treatment with testosterone or not.
Looking forward to help you further.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
