Does Anxiety Cause High Heart Rate And High Blood Pressure?
My muscles have been spasming (painless) on and off for about 8 months now. I started to take a magnesium supplement, which helped (200 - 400mg per day), the twitches occur less frequently and are not very strong, tension headaches are gone, numbess and tingling I used to get has pretty much disapeared.
But now I am noticing periods where my heart is racing for no reason while I am at rest. (110 beats per minute) and also when my heart rate seems to be quite low for me (around 70 beats per minute). My usual resting heart rate, since at least my first year of high school has been between 91 and 98 beats per minute. I have also had several episodes in the last few months that felt like a sudden heavy heart beat or a heart flutter. I had an EKG done and an ultrasound of my heart and everything came back normal, except for a high heart rate and high blood pressure (152/91). I am in a foreign country however, and not really able to ask detailed questions to my doctor.
Could all of this just be stress and anxiety?
This is most probabaly due to anxiety
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and most probably these symptoms are due to anxiety. Since your upper limit of BP is high but lower Is ok that goes in favour of anxiety.
You have also done all the investigations and everything was normal.
So I would suggest you following.
1.Take Alprax 0.5 mg one daily at night time.
2.take proper rest and sleep.
3.Avoid taking too much salt in diet.
If you are having repeated episodes of anxiety then you can meet with a psychiatrist and discuss your case with him.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
