Does Application Of Henna Pose A Risk Of Damaging Blood Vessels?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: For a Dernatologist or Toxicologist ONLY: My 17 year old daughter applied a thick layer of XXXXXXX to her fingers, palms, and feet last night for a Bharatantya performance. She has done this many times before - applying the XXXXXXX in the evening and keeping it on overnight. However, this time she covered the areas with plastic wrap so that the XXXXXXX would not crumble and make a mess. She slept with the plastic wrap on. This morning after removing the plastic and washing off the XXXXXXX it appears that not only is her skin dyed, but underlying blood vessels and possibly small nerves appear to be dyed too and appear prominently darker than the skin. We are concerned about possibility of damage to small blood vessels and nerves. We have learned that XXXXXXX can contain lead, although don't know if there is any data on the brand she used: India's Best Seasons Dulhan XXXXXXX Jumbo Cone. She is feeling well although she states a somewhat different sensation in the areas that have the XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
We realize that skin occlusion with plastic may increase the amount of absorption.
Is it possible for the XXXXXXX (the XXXXXXX itself or it's lead content) to damage the blood vessels or nerves, and is there anything we can do about it now?

Brief Answer:
No risk of damage to blood vessels or nerves or systemic toxicity
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
I must assure that there is no risk of damage to blood vessels or nerves due to XXXXXXX Or risk of systemic toxicity. The XXXXXXX is confined to the skin epidermal layers only and does not go any deeper than that. The color of XXXXXXX however would only gradually fade, with time.
Regards
