Does Asymptomatic Trachoma Cause Any Eye Problems ?
Question: Hello i have Question about Trachoma
1.Does asymptomatic trachoma cause any eye problems ?
As i understand from literature - thous with active conjunctival inflammation cause future eye problems !
I live in no endemic region in Europe - i have friend from XXXXXXX - if he has asymptotic Trachoma - and if my family gets it we should treat it with antibiotics
But if we don t have any eye problems problems we should not be in stress of possible future eye problems ?
2. Trachoma in later stage - Corneal Opacity
can corneal scarring treated in early stage with laser surgery - to avoid future blindness ?
From literature https://www.winchesterhospital.org/health-library/article?id=102906
Some people may need to have the scarring removed. This can be done with laser surgery. People with severe symptoms may need a cornea transplant .
3. If your cornea has become clouded enough to seriously impair your vision -
cornea transplant is a treatment ?
Than you very much !

Hey thanks for the question . Trachoma has been eradicated from many many countries and its rare to see a case . But if you have symptoms you get yourself checked and it can be treated . For early corneal involvement a laser can be done for superficial tissue but if involvement is advanced we need transplant . Hope it helps . Regards
