on the third day evening we noticed that she is passing stool frequently with a gap of 30 mins. Then the pediatrician recommended econorm probiotic for 3 times a day for 3 days..
Though the frequent passing of stool decreased but not that much and now my daughter is passing stool say 8 to 9 times in a day time.. night is fine..please suggest some thing
we also noticed that Bactoclav has side effects of antibiotic diaherrea..
No need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
As you said, diarrhea is a complication of Bactoclav.
But, if there is no fever, the stools are not blood stained, and she is otherwise active, we need not worry. The frequency is already decreasing.
Just complete the antibiotic course as suggested, and continue ECONORM twice daily for 5 days(this has to be given 2 hours after the antibiotic). Bowel will revert to normal slowly once the antibiotic is stopped. Giving curd/yogurt is good, as it is very rich in probiotic bacteria
Also, ensure frequent sips of fluids like ORS solution or salted rice water after each stools to avoid dehydration
I hope this answer will help

doctor our paediaterian has now recommended two medicine for two days drotin ds 5 ml two times in a day gap 6hrs
cyclopam 1ml two times in a day 8hrs gap
before this we also have gone through stool routine test.. which was normal..after that our doctor recommended above medicine...though our doctor said report is normal, but we saw one thing in report saying bacteria present.. don't know if it was fine or not, but doctor said normal after going through the shared report

 May be given
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Welcome back
Both the drugs contain antispasmodics and might help to relieve abdominal pain and decrease frequency of bowel to some extent. Although I would not give both of them together(when necessary, I gives cyclopam 3 times daily), you can give them if associated abdominal pain/discomfort is significant. Anyhow, as I mentioned before, this will take few days to settle after stoping antibiotics(5-7 days)
Stool examination will always show some bacteria(especially coliforms), as many of them are normal inhabitants there(that is why we gives probiotics to hasten recovery). Need not worry about this.
If you need further clarification, I will be happy to help; otherwise you can close the discussion and kindly rate the answer.
