Does Blood Test Done 3 Days After Cystoscopy Elevate PSA Levels?

Very small increase in PSA is seen after cystoscopy
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. The PSA level before and after cystoscopy has been well researched in many groups of patients and a slight increase in PSA after cystoscopy is known to occur.
2. There is very small increase in PSA is in the range 0.16 to 1.51 ng/ mL after cystoscopy.
3. It is important to note that PSA level is high in patients who have urinary bladder infection and urinary retention. Therefore if you recently had an urinary infection then that is responsible for increase in PSA.
4. It is suggested that you please get PSA done a month after you are cured from the infection. The PSA value of 7.0 is significantly increased.
5. Please keep record of PSA level every year and discuss report with your doctor.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
