Does Body Tattooing Cause Seizures?
Question: My daughter is 38 years of age and is experiencing seizures, both while awake and in sleep. We have been trying to determine the cause. She began to get body tattoos about 10 years ago, which is the same time she began to get mild seizures. Since that time, she has had a great deal of her body covered with tattoos. Could the ink from the tattoos be causing a chemical reaction in her body that might cause seizures?
Brief Answer:
Tattoo ink not a cause of seizures
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that you daughter is having uncontrolled seizures. You are concerned that the ink from her tattoos maybe the cause of her seizures. The answer is no. The ink is too large of a molecule to enter the brain. Frequently we never find the cause of a persons seizures even after exhaustive search. I recommend you keep supporting her and helping her deal with this condition.
