Brief Answer:
it rarely causes periodic bouts

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

Though exposing to extreme changes in weather could cause vertigo, it rarely causes periodic bouts. This could be due to benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. As its name suggest, this is harmless and comes in bouts. It is related to change in position. Provide me a detailed description of vertigo. So that I can help you in a better way.

You will be fine.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.

I first got vertigo back in 2011, and had it for 3 or 4 days non stop. It felt like I had just gotten done spinning around in circles, and that dizziness continued for about 4 days instead of a minute or 2. That's how it always feels, although now when I feel it, it usually only lasts for about 30 seconds at most. The last bad bout I had was when I had a head/chest cold, and even though it wasn't constant, I felt it every time I turned my head, and felt consistently light headed throughout being sick. I get brief bouts a few times a month now, and my head always spins from right to left.

Brief Answer:
This could be BPPV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the follow up.
This recurrent bouts and position induced vertigo suggestive of BPPV. That is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
You need a vestibular test like Dix Hallpike to confirm the diagnosis.
Kindly consult an ENT doctor for clinical evaluation of vestibular system.
You can take betahistine for relief.
Take care and watch out against falls, slips secondary to vertigo.

Wish you a speedy recovery.

Take care.
